Super Pet Glass water bottle review - YouTube
Very small amounts of antimony compounds are used in the production of both PET and glass. Antimony oxide is typically used as the catalyst in making PET, which is chemically bound into the polymer at very low levels. Over time and with extended exposure to heat, trace amounts of antimony may migrate into water or other beverages bottled in PET. Laboratory tests on the migration of antimony compounds from PET have consistently found these levels far below all safety thresholds - typically less than 1/40th of the World Health Organization's daily safe-consumption level for drinking water.Sorry to drag this conversation off track. I've had some trouble with water bottles, too. I have a little Super Pet plastic bottle that gets stuck sometimes. I upgraded the boys to one you fill from the top, but it hooked onto the cage weird, and actually fell off once when one of the cage doors closed too hard (thank goodness no rattie feet or tails were in the way!). It always looked like it was about to fall off, and because of the way it filled, you couldn't set it down at all. I got so annoyed with it that I finally just bought a glass Super Pet bottle this weekend.Accessto pure fresh clean water is important to the health and survival ofall animals, especially small animals like sugar gliders. ThisLixit water bottle is engineered for superior performance.
What's so important about a water bottle? First off, many people areafraid their gliders are not drinking enough water from the bottle, sothey will put a dish of water in the cage to satisfy the glider's needfor water. This practice is extremely unsanitary! Sugar glidersare indiscriminate about where they go "potty", and it's only a matterof time before urine or feces will end up in an open dish of water andthe gliders will drink it. So the first thing you do is toconvert any water dish gliders from the open dish to a water bottle.
If your glider is not used to drinking out of a water bottle, you canteach it to use the water bottle by putting something sweet on the tip, like honey. You must remove the water dish first, however, or theglider will not even try the bottle. It's important during thistraining period that you monitor the glider's ability to use thebottle. When we have adult gliders that need water bottletraining, we feed watery fruits on the first night of training toensure that they are getting enough hydration.
Water bottles will keep the water fresh clean and sanitary, all vitalelements to your glider's good health. And glass water bottlesare clearly superior to the plastic type bottles sold in most petstores. This glass water bottle is made of durable, thick wallglass making it dishwater safe. Every component part of the Lixitbottle is able to be sterilized completely. Plastic water bottles aremore difficult to clean and sterilize, and if any growth starts insideof a plastic bottle, the walls of the bottle will become somewhatpitted encouraging new growth to take hold quickly.
Some plastic water bottles will even have a "taste" to them and that doesn't sound too refreshing, does it?
The Lixit water bottle comes with a one-piece tube cap with ultravacuum seal. To prevent leakiness in water bottles, it'simportant to fill them completely and tighten the cap securely. Thestainless steel tube part of the cap has a double ball point tip whichallows water to flow when the sugar glider licks the end of thetube. The Lixit bottle attaches with a spring and nickel-plated(safe!) quick connect clips. Always attach this bottle from theoutside of the cage going in. You do not want your suggies cominginto direct contact with the spring. These chew proof glass bottles are ideal for Hamsters, Rats, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits and other small animals. Also excellent for small to medium size birds. They come with a steel cap, metal mounting spring with clips and a rubber stopper with stainless steel tube and control balls.
