Blow molding refers to the manufacturing process by which hollow plastic parts are formed out of thermoplastic (often PolyEthylene Terephthalate, or PET). This process uses a closed mold and a hollow preform or parison that is heated inside of the mold (using heat lamps) to conform to its shape.
In order to create the hollow plastic parts, the PET preforms are held on either rails or a jig and are moved through a tunnel of infrared heat lamps. As the preforms go through the tunnel, the heat lamps heat them evenly, however, the necks of the preforms are chilled by a water circulation so that they keep their shape. After they exit the tunnel, the preforms are moved to a blowing station and are blown to form the hollow shape of their molds.
Heat lamps work as advertised, pumping out heat as long as they’re on with no regard for combustibles. The following will help to reduce the hazards posed by heat lamps for pets and livestock: emit infrared heat waves that provide much needed warmth for your pet reptile. The red glass transmits Infrared waves produced by the special filament of the bulb.
